Vibrams & Pork Chops

Tuesdays are usually my speed or hill training day, but since last week I got sick and was unable to get in as many miles as I was suppose to, I figured this week I would just focus on building my miles back up.  Yesterday, I did my usual 3 miles on the treadmill and used my vibrams (barefoot shoes).  Today, I was feeling up to using them again to work on strengthening my feet, ankles, and calves.  I am always sore after wearing them, which means I am always getting stronger.

Considering this morning in WA the weather wasn't as pleasant as the rest of the country, I figured I could use some company on my run today.  I was lucky enough to find 2 great running partners last minute.  Running through some new routes/trails and having such great company helped make the time go fast.  Before we knew it we had run about 4.5 miles.

On the way home I was thinking about how I needed to pick up something for dinner.  It had started raining (again), but I felt so great I decided to run to the market from my house.  I parked the car, got my debit card, and went off running.  I literally went to "run" an errand.

The funny part was heading home.  I'm sure the people driving past me were thinking "who is this weird lady wearing those funky purple shoes and carrying pork chops".  I couldn't help but wonder how awesome I would think it is if I were to see someone doing that. Every time I see a runner while I'm driving, I stare at them with envy wishing I was the one out there running.

After a slow week with being sick and not enough running, this week I am feeling great.  Vibrams, pork chops, and all.

Now, I'm in the process of making those pork chops for my wonderful family while wearing compression socks.  Without fail, my calves are sore.  The vibrams did their job!

Tonight is a night filled with laundry and Biggest Loser.  Multitasking...that's how this runner/mom/wife does it.  There is always time.  It's all about priorities and time management.

Happy running...
Andi
